January Mission: Supporting New Beginnings
In January, Letters with Love began the new year with a mission centered on hope, resilience, and fresh starts. All 74 handwritten cards were delivered to Avatar Residential Detox Center in Ringwood, New Jersey, where individuals are courageously battling addiction and taking the first steps toward recovery.
Rehabilitation can be one of the most isolating experiences a person endures. Choosing to seek treatment requires immense strength, yet the journey often feels lonely and overwhelming. As the world celebrates new beginnings each January, we wanted to ensure that those in detox and recovery felt that same sense of renewal — that they were not forgotten, not defined by their past, and not alone in their fight.
Each card carried words of encouragement, compassion, and belief. Simple messages — “You are stronger than you think,” “This is your fresh start,” “One day at a time” — served as reminders that recovery is possible and that a community of strangers is rooting for their success.
This mission was about more than just delivering cards. It was about restoring dignity, reinforcing hope, and reminding every recipient that their decision to seek help is something to be proud of. January represents new chapters, and we are honored that Letters with Love could play even a small role in supporting theirs.
