Letters With Love Completes First Mission: Spreading Valentine's Day Joy
The launch of Letters with Love’s first mission was a heartwarming success! Our Valentine’s Day Cards for Seniors initiative brought together people from across the country to spread love and joy through the simple yet powerful act of handwritten letters. This mission was dedicated to brightening the day of senior citizens, many of whom experience loneliness or isolation. Our goal was to remind them that they are loved, valued, and never forgotten.
Bringing People Together to Spread Love
With this being our very first mission, we were overwhelmed by the support and enthusiasm from our growing community. Over 36 participants, ranging from high school students to adults, joined forces to create heartfelt Valentine’s Day cards filled with messages of warmth, kindness, and encouragement. The response exceeded our expectations, and we received an incredible 230 handmade cards from across the country, with contributions coming from states as far apart as New York to California.
Each card was unique—some decorated with vibrant red and pink designs, others featuring heartfelt poetry or personal notes of encouragement. But no matter the design, the sentiment remained the same: to bring love and joy to someone who needed it.
A Special Valentine’s Day Delivery
After weeks of collecting and organizing the cards, we carefully prepared them for delivery. On February 13th— the day before Valentine’s—these heartfelt messages found their way to the residents of Dowling Gardens Senior Living in Sparkill, New York.
As the cards were distributed, the joy on the residents’ faces was unforgettable. Some smiled, some teared up, and others expressed their gratitude aloud, overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers. For many, it wasn’t just about receiving a Valentine—it was about knowing that someone, somewhere, had thought of them and taken the time to send love their way.
One of the most touching moments of this mission was seeing how deeply personal connections can be made through something as simple as a card. Some residents read their cards aloud, while others held onto them as treasured keepsakes, appreciating the thoughtfulness that went into every word.
Why This Mission Was So Important
Loneliness among seniors is a widespread issue, and small acts of kindness can make an immense difference. This mission was a reminder that no one should feel forgotten, especially on a day meant to celebrate love and connection. Through Letters With Love, we aim to continue bringing these moments of joy to those who need them most.
Looking Forward
As our first mission, this event set the tone for the work we hope to continue doing. We are incredibly grateful for everyone who participated and helped make this possible. Whether you wrote a card, spread the word, or supported our efforts in another way, you helped make someone’s Valentine’s Day truly special.
This is just the beginning! We look forward to continuing our mission and spreading love—one letter at a time. Stay tuned for our upcoming initiatives, and join us in making a difference!
Today and every day, we remind others that they are loved.
Letters With Love partnered with Kindly Curing, based in Los Angeles, California. With their help, our Valentine's Event was brought across the country to the elderly of the LA area.
We want to thank Charlotte and her group of volunteers for making this happen!
